The FNB JoburgArtFair partners with Lalela to establish an Education Programme for Students

The FNB JoburgArtFair has partnered with Lalela to create this year’s Educational Programme.

 

We encourage schools and parents to book in advance for Lalela’s Guided Tours, led by Lalela alumni, and to visit the Lalela Stand #24 to collect free Student Guides for a self-guided experience of this year’s Special Project Focus on the arts of East Africa.

Proceeds from the sales of this year’s Fair Tote Bag will be donated to Lalela.

 

As an organisation, Lalela provides educational arts for at-risk youth to spark creative thinking and awaken the entrepreneurial spirit. Lalela creates a safe space for youth when they are most vulnerable and uses the transformative power of art to develop and inspire skills that have the potential to change a child’s life. This is achieved by offering tuition-free weekly after-school and daily holiday workshops to grade 1 through 12 learners in communities where there is very little exposure to the arts.

 

Lalela operates in the following areas: Imizamo Yethu, Hangberg, Masiphumelele, Mfuleni, Nyanga, Happy Valley, Durban, Rorke’s Drift, and Maboneng, Johannesburg. Lalela also runs programmes with partners in Northern Uganda and South Bronx, NYC.
